Public operating model

How marketplace orders, payments, and delivery work

This page separates the intended marketplace flow from TrustPay’s other product concepts. Independent vendors sell their own goods, receive their own settlement, and remain responsible for fulfilment.

Preview status: this marketplace branch is not accepting live sellers or payments. The pages describe the intended operating model and must be updated to match the launched service before activation.

1. Buyer chooses a seller listing

Each product identifies the independent vendor responsible for its price, stock, description, dispatch, and delivery.

2. Buyer pays at checkout

The intended checkout initializes a Paystack transaction against that vendor’s verified subaccount and the applicable platform commission.

3. Settlement follows the provider schedule

Paystack settles the vendor share and platform commission according to its subaccount and settlement configuration. TrustPay does not manually hold funds until delivery in this marketplace model.

4. Vendor dispatches the order

The vendor records dispatch, courier details, and tracking information in the marketplace order dashboard. Buyers receive status updates.

5. Delivery closes fulfilment

Delivery confirmation completes the fulfilment record and starts the return window. It does not act as a manual payment-release instruction.

6. Issues follow the refund process

Buyers can report non-delivery, damage, wrong items, or materially inaccurate listings. TrustPay reviews evidence and applies the published refund policy.

Payout transparency

When vendors receive their money

Payment allocation

At checkout

Vendor and platform shares are specified when the Paystack transaction is initialized.

Payout destination

Vendor subaccount

The vendor’s verified bank account is linked through its payment-provider subaccount.

Settlement timing

Provider schedule

Actual bank credit timing follows Paystack’s applicable settlement schedule, bank processing, and risk review.

Seller confirms fulfilment

The planned seller dashboard requires the vendor to mark an order as packed and dispatched, select the courier, provide a tracking reference where available, and estimate delivery. False fulfilment updates can trigger suspension.

Refunds and disputes

Buyers first contact the vendor through the order. If unresolved, TrustPay reviews the listing, tracking, messages, and evidence under the marketplace refund policy. Approved refunds return through the original payment route where supported.

How the marketplace intends to earn revenue

TrustPay intends to charge vendors a clearly disclosed commission on completed marketplace sales. The checkout configuration allocates that commission separately from the vendor’s product proceeds. Advertising or optional seller tools may be introduced later only with separate disclosure.
